Located in the Peixoto de Azevedo Gold Province in Mato Grosso state. Gold mineralization associated with sericite+silica+pyrite altered granitic rocks.

Drill program completed in 2012.

Batistão Project — Overview

Overview  |  Photo Gallery  |  Maps

The Batistão project is located in the Alta Floresta Gold Province in Mato Grosso state.

Gold mineralization is hosted in granitic rocks that have been intersected by short reverse circulation (RC) drill holes that commonly ended in mineralization.

Ownership

  • Brazilian Gold owns 100% of the project subject to a 2% NSR that can be purchased for US$666,667.

Land

  • Two exploration concession for a total area of 19,552 Ha.

History

  • 1992-1995, Western Mining outlined a large gold in soil anomaly (>1 km by 300 m) that was tested by short reverse circulation drill hole (1,287m in 24 holes) program that intersected auriferous quartz-sulphide stockwork.
  • 2006, Talon Metals (formerly Brazmin) applied for concession over the Batistão prospect.

Description

  • Western Mining completed a regional exploration program in the Peixoto de Azevedo Gold Province from in the early 1990’s that identified a significant stream sediment anomaly in the Batistão area.
  • A soil grid was established over the stream geochemical anomaly, which defined an west to northwest trending gold in soil anomaly over 2 km in length.
  • Ground geophysics, auger drilling and a subsequent reverse circulation (RC) drilling program were completed to evaluate the target.
  • Auger drilling tested the soil anomalies (109 auger holes in 762 metres) with positive results.
  • Reverse circulation drill holes (24 drill holes in 1,287 m) were drilled to the north or south with a dip of -55° and tested a zone from 40 to 60 metres below surface; many of the holes intersected gold grades of 0.8 to 1.2 g/t over their entire length and ended in mineralization.
  • The drill holes intersected quartz veined sericite-silica-sulphide altered granitic rocks.
